Mother is the very essence of all mantras

By concentration on Mother as a mother, the supreme divine energy of loving others results in trying to identify oneself with Her as Hers. Gradually the perception of the fullness of the individuality is felt and the development of such perception is later more and more experienced, Identification stated above is Concentration or Anusandhaan अनुसंधान, Perception is Mantra-Siddhi मन्त्रसिध्दी or the success of the mantra repetition and the full development is Anubhavaअनुभव or realisation.
According to the Mai-istic creed, there is no higher Mantra than Jay Mai Jay Markand Mai and the practice of getting a certain desire fulfilled by repetition of a certain mantra personally or through a representative is discountenanced. Mantra repetition can be only for getting the Grace, or for a prayer to some good purpose, mostly for others, and without any selfish return.
Once it becomes a conviction that it is Mother and Mother’s Grace that gives or does a certain work, the whole outlook is entirely changed. There is no marketing, no mechanical doing of something, somehow, leading us somewhere, no bargaining with the deity, no chasing and no cheating.”YOUR’S IS TO PRAY, AND IT IS HER WILL TO GRANT OR NOT”.At every step in this life, there is some difficulty of illness, affliction, poverty, painfulness, etc.
How long to wonder and how often to break one’s head and empty one’s purse, in the search of almost a mirage!!! Mai-ism says “miseries will be endless”. Make yourself proof to them. Seek Grace, pray without despondency in case the prayers are not heard. Practise living cheerfully., with the spirit of self-surrender, in any circumstances. Further, as a result of the grant of the request, a devotee does not get deluded as a Siddha (if at all there is any), because he does not consider himself to be the giver or the worker. Unnecessary fuss and bossing due to a little better knowledge of rituals or sacred word has no dancing platform. MOTHER NEVER FAILS, TO DO WHAT IS BEST IN THE INTEREST OF HER DEVOTEES, ON PRAYING TO FOR RELIEF.
Readers would not rest satisfied until they know, if this theory is supported by practical experience, and I may reply to them. ” There are experiences, which would take volumes to narrate, of prayers by devotees that have been heard by Mother.” I am not talking of old grand-mothers tales or hearsay’s and rumors of some Bhaktaas in past. I am referring to the experiences of myself, as great an atheist as any of you, who wants things to be proved to him, as in a civil court, supported by ample outside independent evidence.
A Mai-ist should not forget that this granting of desires, is with the ultimate desire of attracting Her children to Herself.
There is the other side, as well. Mantras have laudable uses, when (1) they serve magnetic healing or abating of diseases, etc., for very general abating of miseries;
(2) For ornamental grandeur, decency, poetry, sublimity, purification of place and mind, inviting a deity or seeking grace, or (3) as spiritual diplomacy to pull out disciple from the mudmire of worldliness by offering baits under the temptation of the benefits, gradually introducing him to the higher world of God, Guru, Devotees, etc. (although through a selfish motive to start with), and making him ascend the spiritual ladder, rung after rung.
This use, however, of Mantra by way of a spiritual diplomacy, for the welfare of the disciple, becomes at once apparent. Such a Mantra-worker is purely a selfless man, and work for a selfless purpose without any specific desire.

The elementary idea of the working of the world and life

The elementary idea of the working of the world and life of which the above is an extract is as under :

Peace and happiness lies in reducing Bhedas, differences and distinctions, reducing conflictful many to as few as possible and creating a nature of loving others and a determined effort to love in reconciliation with others . It also lies in forgetting oneself and surrendering to the Divine Will. The best method of forgetting oneself is devotion and meditation. These truths are capable of proof by experience and need no scriptures to prove them.
Be satisfied therefore with the direct practice of Love, Service, Devotion and Self-Surrender.
The simplest method of worship is by prayer. It may be for spiritual grace or some particular moral and legitimate benefit or relief. Prayer shall be sincere and with full humility which is physically seen in prostration. The prayer shall be with nobility which is seen in sacrifice or whatever is dear to us to assure Mother of sacrificed things being much less dear than Herself.
The whole universe is not non-existent, although it is not independent of Mother’s Will and is of Mother’s Will’s making. The ideal of changelessness is supreme but the ever- experienced changefulness cannot be denied. Mere assertion of changelessness is unconvincing and explain nothing.
At the stage where there are differences between soul and soul, soul and universe, soul and Mother, Mother and universe, they must be well understood.
Finalmost Mother has two aspects- animateness and inanimateness or consciousness and unconsciousness, spirit and matter. The interplay between these two is the work of the Active Mother.
The quality of matter is non-consciousness, non-intelligence, manyness, separateness, changefulness, outwardness and objectivity. The greater the consciousness that is put in the material things , the greater is the feeling of its reality and consequent pain and pleasure.
Matter is uncreatable and indestructible. Increase in one place necessarily means decrease in another place.
The quality of spirit is just the reverse of that of matter. Matter is generally characterized by substance, property, action, equilibrium, motion and inertia. Dravya, Guna, Karma, Satwa, Rajas and Tamas. Spirit is characterized by assertableness, consciousness, blissfulness, desire, knowledge and action. Sat Chit Anand Ichcha Jnana and Kriya.
A Jiva or a soul is spirit enshrouded in matter, say a combination of spirit and matter in immeasurable proportions. The Jiva ( inner- self ) identifies itself with the body and the several changes of the universe, tries to possess material; things and happiness and finally casts all away. The Jiva passes through immeasurable experiences of creating desires, running after them and finally realizes that happiness lies in no other thing or mental condition except in the Lotus Feet of Mother.
The outward tendency to seek happiness from matter and exclusiveness and self-assertion is misdirected learning of Avidyaa. The opposite inward tendency is Vidyaa of rightly directed learning.
The interplay of spirit and matter goes on in space and time Disha and Kala, under the laws of cause and effect which is niyamana. Jiva is free to the extent of spirit and bound to be extent of matter.
Matter is undergoing three stages of becoming, growing, extinction. Shrishti, sthiti, laya : creation, continuation and destruction. The soul is bound, part bound and part free, and free. The soul is free in the smaller field and bound in the larger field and is neither fully free nor fully bound. The boundness is due to relationship and identification with matter. The soul has further the qualities of attraction, repulsion and neutrality If materialism increases, spirituality decreases and vice versa.
The spirit is liberal, narrow or tolerant and Jiva pursues, renounces and remains equanimous and experiences pleasure, pain or peace. In the descending half of the full evolution part of a Jiva . Jiva creates desires, gets knowledge to unable it to fulfill them, and acts. In the ascending half the same action takes place , but in the former case there is desirefulness and in the latter desirelessness.
Further the Jiva has the tendency of trying to get maximum of real existence, knowledge and bliss. According to the stage of development the notions about these three changes , Jiva wishes to absorb others and offer resistance against being absorbed by others.
The Jiva has three bodies, physical, astro-mental and causal, passes through three conditions of waking, dreaming and sleeping and in the waking state acts through five motor organs and gathers knowledge through five sensory organs. The Jiva has its inner working through Buddhi, Manas, Chitta and Ahankara, discrimination, deliberation, oscillation and egoism and is handicapped by six internal enemies of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Mada, Moha and Matsara – desire, wrathfulness, greed, pride, infatuation and jealousy.
In a word the whole world process is a struggling of Jiva against Jiva, spirit against matter, Vidyaa against Avidyaa, life against death, desirelessness against desirefulness and so on.
The soul struggling hard roams through endless experiences on endless planes. He knows many things but he has no strength, gets giddy and fatigued and having done all that the Jiva can, finally comes to the conclusion that there is no peace, no bliss, no rest, no changelessness except by self-surrender to Mother in the Lotus Feet and renounces everything to Her, with the unflinching determination of “Thy will be done”. Then alone the Grace showers.
It is then the miraculous transformation begins. The outlook gets larger, the control becomes greater, the illumination becomes brighter, the proofness to the influences of matter becomes stronger, turning misery to happiness becomes easier, life becomes livelier, joy is felt deeper, peacefulness lasts longer, wandering period becomes shorter and so on and so forth.
Making a sweeping summary – All the working is controlled by one beneficent power, call it Father or Mother.
The interest of every being is closely interwoven with that all other beings.
So long as human beings suffer, they need consolation from the invisible and incomprehensible, from religion, be it of any shape.
By wishing, knowing and acting rightly alone we can be happy. God is not foreign element to man who is in some meaning, somehow in essence , one with God. Smallest good or bad sown bears its corresponding fruit, virtue and merit never remain unrewarded and vice versa vice and sin never unpunished.
The whole universe is governed by the law under which the microcosm is analogous with macrocosm.
There are higher powers who help the righteous most wonderfully in their miseries and difficulties here below.
Everyone is after happiness which is unattainable because of the sense of separateness, ignorance, egoism, selfishness and harmfulness.
Every man is made to go through experiences which make one better and better and go nearer and nearer to the origin in the long run, through he practice of Righteous Action, Desire and Knowledge.
The last remedy for such ones as are incapable to steadily progress along the prescribed course is unconditional self-surrender through devotion. “Thy will be done.”

They love what God gives

The Founder says: “Let there be any amount of atheism of discarding of God, religion, scriptures, etc.; so long as man has a body, he is sure to have physical suffering. So long as he has a heart, he is sure to have disquietude. So long as he has desires, he is sure to be in some pressing need. Where can the poor beggarly creature like man dependent on so many things escape? How long can he run away? Truly capacious religious preachers have to develop their givingpowertheir miseryrelieving desire and the world will remain in their fists with folded hands up to the last day of the pralaya” of the world (dissolution). Be yourself really capacious of relieving the miseries of the world, not by tall-talks, appearances, paraphernalias, scriptural quotation, shouting tomtoms, etc., but by actually proving your capacity of relieving the sufferings of them that come to you. The whole world will be flocking around you, in temples or Ashrams. Except few blessedsnone wants God and religion but for their own selfinterest. They do not love God. They love what God gives, money, wife, children, happiness, health, heaven, peace, bliss, etc. They are,  in fact, loving not even those things, in the absolute sense. They are loving only themselves. We can’t expect the world to be consisting of one and all on the highest plane of disinterested love and service with devotion and self-surrender. Let the animaldeity mixture with each one be only very gradually increased by truly religious persons to greater and greater strength of the GodlinesselementThat is the only efficient way of dealing in Kaliyugawith the new situation after our contact with the West.

Frowning, scolding, intimidating, and dismissing will not mend matters. Even isolatingwhich is the most efficacious remedyis by nowextremely impracticable and difficult. The number of runaways increases and it is the religious schools that have finally to be closed. To be the masterone has first to serve as a servantPeople have to be served in their own way. Create the feeling of gratitude and a confidence in you, your words and teachings by numerous precedents of your having helped them. It is sickening for any man to be constantly advised by mere sermons, without any practical solid help or service or sacrifice to enable the distressed to be relieved of a calamity.

The Founder humorously says mankind and world has no direful demonish  ancestral vengeance with God, Guru and Religion. When the world is roaring with “There is nothing like God. Down with this humbug of religion,” it only means not an absence of belief or a disbelief in God, but a disowninga rebelliousness just as a wayward (and therefore always miserable) son says, he has no fatherThe only course left for the world is the intervention of Mother between the unrelenting father and the everrebellious son. This is for them that believe in both the Mother and Father. For a Mai-ist, Mother Herself is both Mother and Father. That is the only possible chance of a reconciliation or re-establishment of peace happiness and blissFor Maiists who believe God himself as Mother, there is only one step, and not two, to climb. Whichever way you go, Motherhood of God is the only remedy left for the world especially in this Kaliyuga.

” No ” becomes ” Yes ” when grace showers.

Says the Founder, “The bitterest atheism of a man is simply a straw-like thing which is blown away on turning the blast of a misery into a beautitudeful breeze by Mother’s Grace. These are proved facts and not oratories. The Founder has seen most thinking educated people changing from the most vehement ” No ” to weeping and repentant ” Yes “, within a few hours of the Mother’s Grace-Showers.”
This changing from most vehement ” No ” to the most repentant ” Yes ” is unbelievably subtle. Few people realise that it is the She-monkey mind of man that sometimes raises him to the high palatial terrace and sometimes buries him in the deepest and darkest cellars of despondency. People have always heard but few have practised the secret of being an unconcerned and uninfluenced spectator. Few have learnt to laugh at their own contrasts, contradictions and inconsistencies. Few have thought of what passes in their own mind and life, spiritually.

According as that mind is cheerful or sorrowful, the whole outlook changes. The whole sky gets bright or cloudy. People say at one moment : “There is nothing like Sun”. The cloud disappears and the very same they, at the next moment, say : “The Sun is surely there.” None of the two contradictory statements is necessarily a lie or a hypocrisy. People actually and honestly feel like that. Only thing is they have not risen to the height of seeing the game play of the mind itself as an introspective expert spectator. They are immediately carried away as their mind chooses.

Mother at beck and call

The Founder of Mai-ism Mai Swarup Mai Markand was once a famine supervisor in Baroda State. There was a laid-down standard of the quantity of excavation and the daily wage in proportion to the work. The maximum rate was 4 annas a day which would help to just keep the body and soul together. After his appointment, he soon saw in about a week’s time that more than 80% could not be entitled to minimum-meal wages. By starvation, the coolies became weaker and weaker and doing still less work. The vicious circle started. He was moved with pity. He became extremely liberal in his measurements and saw that everyone got the minimum so as not to starve. The shortage of work of 3000 persons was gradually increasing; he hoped it will be made up, but that day never came. A complaint had already reached the head office that he was too liberal and it was ordered that a sub-engineer should give a surprise visit and check measurements and the total amount paid. The Founder had handled over his fate in the hands of dearest Mother, after profound sorrow on hearing the report.

During this period of this suspense, His Highness visited the place. The technicalities of the work were inspected (not the finance). His Highness was quite pleased, but the Founder was trembling within his heart; “all this satisfaction will disappear on sub-engineer’s report.” But there was Mother at his beck and callever protecting him. Three days later, Her Highness came over. She expressed great satisfaction at the healthy glow joyfulness and the minimum number of deaths and illness, etc. in the Founder’s famine relief camp. She called him at her royal tents. This was the conversation. Her Highness said, “I find your famine work arrangement has shown the best condition of preservation in the whole of the State. What do you wish me to do for you?”.”I propose distributing clothes to all your work people”. The Founder said, “They will be praying for God’s blessings on your Highness more and more for the bounty. They are already more than grateful for their very lives being saved.” The queen saw there was some deep meaning. She abruptly said, in fewest majestic words “Be plain.” Founder said, “I have been very liberal, too liberal, in measurements.” “That ought to be, is it not? The object in view is to see that poor people survive.” Her Highness guessed more than half things, on looking deep into the Founder’s face.

The chief engineer then, all of a sudden, came over to the queen, to pay his respects, with the executive engineer. The queen simply laughed, while interviewing them and said, “I was just talking to your supervisor; he told me he was very liberal in measurements. I said to him that he ought to be, for the object in view for which famine works have been started.” When was the executive engineer to have another chance like this? He picked up the opportunity, “Your Highness, I have been constantly visiting the work and I have found him working best and I have already strongly reported recommending him to our chief Engineer Saheb here.” The Chief Engineer took not a second to shake his head with an artificial smile, as if to convey he had received the report and had already issues orders which had promoted him. Said the kind-hearted queen, “That is the way of the best officers and departmental heads. No Head of a department could be happy without a truly contented staff and no discontented servant would be efficiently working,” etc. Needless to say, the Executive Engineer sent a memo to the sub-engineer to cancel the inspection and the checking of measurements. Mother saved the Founder.Be serving Mothers childrenMother is at your beck and call .

His Highness would be seeing efficiency “. Her Highness would be seeing the preservation and the wellfeeding of the subjectsThat is the difference of God as Fatherand God as Mother. What does it matter on the whole, if out of 100 of the religious code rules only 10 are strictly observed? If men are for religionis not religion for men as well?? Is not preservation of the religion a more vital issue than the strictest adherence to Laws orders and the things stated in the Scriptures?and laid down centuries before??

God as Mother is the most important aspect

Everything depends, on what you make your God   to be to you, and your relationships with your God and your stage. If God is Mother to you , then, there is no meaning in the belief of pleasing Her , with a loveless sycophant’s servile recitation of Her virtues and glories in an intellectual ornamental manner. None acts that way with one’s own Mother .There is every right for a child to demand enough food to satisfy hunger and to be protected against actual calamities and to demand and enforce Her not leaving you during your illness and hardest calamities. To be running to Her and weeping out all ebullition  of one’s grief in Her lap; to be making every confession of one’s folly and misdeed with every confidence or fearlessness; to be seeking protection and to be praying to be accepted , however wicked : – this is every child’s claim on Mother. Your rights and claims on your Mother are proportionate to and based on your love, service , devotion and surrender to Her  as your Mother.

Thus in a word, it is not for you to weigh  justice, while you live the life of mercifulness to one and all. You have surely to suffer in some cases, but you have all along the protection of the Divine Mother and the neutral world. Take now the other view. Even as it is , for a man of a spiritual aptitude , how poor is his brutal strength to hold his own against the wicked world ? Why not then make a virtue and a claim of what people call a weakness?

Regarding Akartritvam अकर्तुत्वम [ non-doership], ( KARTRITVA-BHAAVANAA-VIHINATVAM कतृत्व-भावना-विहीनत्वम ) , the irreligious man jumps and pounces and argues : ” In that case we are not responsible for all wrong, bad and sinful acts that we do “.

If you want to be really great , create the intermediate mentality : ” All my good actions are by Mother, all my bad actions are mine “There are three mentalities for the spiritual aspirant in this connection. First,” I am responsible for the good and bad actions “, Second, “Whatever defective things are done , are done by me, whatever good is done by me  is due to promptings of Mother “.  Third , ” Whatever I do good or bad , that I do as prompted by Mother “. If one has arrived at the third stage, by actual wading through the experiences , by the time he reaches that stage , all evil tendencies  and passions have subsided or even vanished .”

If you have honestly  reached that stage ,’ When you believe that every thing is done by you on prompting from Mother, you soon get suspicious , about your wrong thoughts  desires and actions as Mother can not be prompting you to do evil things . Evil suggestions and decisions can not be but yours. Suppose you have begun developing the idea that you are merely the instrument and that therefore you have left off all your censorship of your thoughts and actions. Further suppose by the remotest chance that some undesirable actions pass through your hands; in that particular case, if you are true to your belief , you have no right to question ” Why “, when you have to suffer. If your that action is of Her own will , your suffering also of Her will.

Akartritvam ( non-doership ) should not mean hand-folded sittingness, irresponsibility for bad actions or injustice crying about punishment for the same. And that is so because in fact, in the womb what appears to us as a complete non-doership, there has been always invisible sub-consciousness of doership.

In religious true understanding , there are so many seeming confusions  and contradictions , which are removable only by the Unseen hand , that works wonders  with an extremely delicate working , which laughs at the human limitations  of cause and effect, logic and reason , experiment and conclusion , proof and judgment.

The whole indefiniteness of our religious thinking arises as under : 1] Opposites often lie interpenetrating 2] All our judgment  are relative 3] The full data are never before us. 4] We always think with preconceived mind. 5] We are pulled away to one extremity or another. 6] So many truths can never be realized without actual experience etc.

Each teaching has its own relative value, for a particular mentality at a particular stage  and at a particular moment. A layman finds contradictions  because whereas all the teachings are huddled up in a book or a talk a few hours , his mind can not transform itself to see the consequential order between the seemingly contradictory things . Whenever you have religious difficulties, the best thing is to try to solve them yourself. Mostly you will succeed in finding the true solution. If you don’t then place your difficulty before your Guru maintaining every decorum and delicacy with your humility approach and respectful loving attitude. When God’s Grace opens up your eyes, Guru’s one word becomes more than sufficient with illumination.

Hence , Mai-ism insists God and Guru both, neither God alone , nor Guru alone. It is the spiritual Chaitanya that alone works . The spirit flows from God to Guru and from Guru to Shishya.

Teaching varies not only from one teacher to another, but from the same teacher to one man or another, not only that, but from the same teacher to the same man, according he is at one stage or another after some progress. The underlying truth is the aspirant is gradually led from on stage to another.

Instead of spending our life in a foolish impulsive way it is desirable to follow the Guru’s teachings of “Be doing righteous actions ” and of ” Don’t leave your duties “. We should not forget that we can not remain silent or action less even  if we so determined.

But when we see the fruit which we believe to be the result of  our action is adverse , we get despondent, sorrowful and dis-spirited.Here the Guru holds us up by giving us a second teaching . He says,” You can’t keep up your working vigourousness without the idea of fruit., and there is no certainty that every good action if yours  will be unfailing crowned  with a good result. The best mid-way therefore , is that you continue to have the consciousness of the fruit, but you dedicate away that fruit to God. ” Doing once duties  leaving the fruit as dedicated to God  is a satisfactory and countable stage.

But the aspirant can not all the time remain satisfied , with a stop there. He gradually entertains a desire to pass from the realm of action into that of inaction. He gradually practices the renouncing the idea  not only of the fruit but also the ownership and authorship and thereafter the memory of action. Gradually he begins feeling,” I can do nothing “. And finally believing  ” I am nothing “. He has to remain yoked to action, even while advancing in stages till actions leave him. The religious alchemy is ” dis-interested and God dedicated action ”  Be doing action ,yet don’t permit its  action-ness to degenerate you, that requirement is secured through God-dedication.”

On the soul reaching the higher stage, it is yet kept linked up with action. Then nothing can be so agreeable as taking up the work of  public religious welfare .  Finally a time comes , when the highly advanced soul’s devotion  and desire-less-ness and the consciousness of nothingness becomes so very overpowering, that it is impossible for him to do any miscellaneous inferior duties. It is only when that stage is reached that the teaching about ‘ Remain absorbed in Me’ becomes applicable.

This is only a rambling specimen of various kinds of weaving that can be made out of religious highest truths.

Man with all his boasts of Science with microscopes etc. has yet remained blind and his blindness is endless. Till now, man has not been able to bring peace, happiness or goodness. Evil has not been eradicated.  Founder says,” Take therefore the cash and let the credit go.” Live your life as straight as you can, conquer your mind . You have to practice theses principles of Love and Surrender with Service and Devotion spread around you with a universal outlook.

Regarding Akartritvam , let your prayer be  : I know neither virtue nor vice , nor I can withstand the falling  into the clutches of the latter. My only consolation is that I have burnt out all my egoism of being the actor and developed my faith in believing ,” I am doing what thou drivest me to do.”

On 2 – 7 – 1943, in Hubli the lady whom the Founder had accompanied to Ramanashram, was discussing the subtle-most subject of Sakama Bhakti. Said the Founder,” not only begging is bad , but the very offering of the demand prayer , in the first place means, you are discrediting Mother with not being able to know  what is passing in your mind. Further, if you are a devotee yourself, you are discrediting Mother with  a bankruptcy of Mercifulness. When we are praying with a demand we exhibit our ignorance, distrust and funkiness from self-surrender. When we are meditating, we are pulling the Formless and Attributes Mother, to be having form and attribute. When we are reciting hymns, we are trying to limit and deform the indescribable Mother. When we say, we are going to Mother, we are denying Her omnipresence. A true devotee of a Divine Knowledge is only in a whirlpool, what to consider ‘ as ought to be done ‘.

” I only pray to Mother in that stage of helplessness, thus : ” Take my mind to be Thy weakest child. Let my body be Thy temple, consider my any words to be Thy prayers , consider my walking moment to be  the holy Pradakshinaa प्रदक्षिणा circumscribing around Thee. Consider my any enjoyment to be an offering to Thee. “

Divine Mother is the destroyer of pains and miseries.

The Divine Mother is the destroyer of pains and miseries. Especially, the pain caused by worldliness, births and deaths. The complete release from pain of any kind.

The Duhkha दुःख्ख  or pain may roughly in the worldly view be taken as arising from the three sources, viz., (1) Due to visible causes including other beings and even elements; (2) Due to the karma, which means the action-reaction law, omission of one’s duties and decisions, by dispensers of justice, etc., and (3) Impurity and sinfulness of the soul.
You are over-proud, lustful, greedy, etc., and therefore, you suffer, you are humbled, insulted, punished, filled with anguish and blotted with failures. This is the first source. Your only son after whose comforts you spent your whole wealth unthoughtfully, and became a beggar, turns faithless or dies. This is the second source. The said two kinds of pains or miseries are known as Bhautik भौतिक and Daivik दैविक , respectively.
The third source is that of the multiplication of miseries, due to perverted notions, crookedness, evil intentions, ignorance and slothfulness of the soul. This is called Atmik आत्मिक.
Sufferings due to Action-Reaction Law, as a corollary to the Re-incarnation theory, as also enjoyments, and therefore the actions, in a word Duhkha दुःख्ख, Sukha सुख, and Karma कर्म are mainly classified as of three types – Kriyamaana क्रीयमाण, Sanchita संचित and Praarabdha प्रारब्ध. Kriyamaana क्रीयमाण means summary of presents results. Say you insult someone and he slaps you. None of the two actions were destined. You save a child from accident, and the parents out of gratitude send you a rich present.

Sanchita is the sum total of your assets and liabilities. For every good or bad act of yours, including the smallest thought, word, desire, emotion. etc., there is reward or punishment.
Just as the Central Board of all the different railways, with deepest concentration, arranges out a programme and a schedule of lines, number of trains, stoppages etc., so that the maximum possible convenience of the whole country be served, etc., so after full consideration, as to how to best cancel the assets and liabilities of each soul, programmes and details of every life are worked out, and each life is, so to say, chalked out in advanced.
Relations of different souls, their dealings, their inclinations to one another, are all so intelligently and comprehensively interwoven, to form the details of each life, that there are three principles mainly secured :- (1) With the minimum number of lives, the maximum work of realizing the assets and paying of them liabilities, is done. (2) Every soul is given his free will, within certain limits, and even some success, as a result of his strong will, ,within certain limits, which are different for different souls and very extremely widely. (3) It is seen that on the whole , every soul as an individual has been progressing and getting better  from the point of experience and spiritual enlightenment and has been pitching his tent, nearer home. In details of every life and in the combination of several lives, there are certain relationships, dealings and happenings which must takes place as dead certainties. These details are called Praarabdha प्रारब्ध details. Praarabdha  प्रारब्ध literally means “begun” and is compared to an arrow discharged, which can not be revoked.

Thus there are certain details, e.g., birth, wife, children, general outline of the standard of living, financial condition, relationship of being a creditor and debtor with other souls, natural inclinations , maximum capacities, attainments, general evolution etc.

Once this reincarnation theory is explained and accepted, the next difficulty raised is this :- ” If everything is going on and is enforced, as the action-reaction law, what is the use of devotion and Mother’s intercession ? “
The answer is, that the above law is the standing law. Every Law has however exceptions and there are special treatments as well, as also Queen’s Mercy, as also kind or severe individual treatment, during punishment. There the devotee is at an extremely great advantage. There is no partiality, as anyone who devotes to Mother has those concessions and considerations.

But the more important subtler facts are, that devotion brings about the intrinsic absolute change in the soul, so very automatically and imperceptibly. A truely religious devotee is so very careful of his actions , that his Kriyamaana automatically ceases.Regarding Sanchita, he forgets all his assets. He renounces his claim to all happiness he is entitle to, because he has secured much higher happiness. Change in him often creates a similar noble change in his creditors, as well.Further Mother gives him strong bearing power. Mother gives the steel armour, which defies all bullets discharged on the devotees as required by the Karmic Law. According to Mai-ism, as also Hindu scriptures , even Sanchita is burned away by devotion and what remains is the Praarabdha, which he has to consume out, by actually suffering.

A great devotee was suffering from piles and paralysis. The worshipped attended him, and washed his private parts. One day he questioned, ” Oh God, if you love me so much, why don’t you remove the disease itself ?” Lord said,” Praarabdha must be consumed out only by actual suffering.”
Further, the devotees have the advantage of suitable adjustments, as when sufferings should befall them. In a word, the devotee does not escape his creditors but has a very strong protection and a special treatment. He has the relief of liquidation. He renounces everything and the court takes charges of his assets and liabilities. Still further in the higher type of devotion, the minds which takes the cognizance of all sufferings is entirely absent, being absorbed in God and therefore the effect of suffering is least.

Yet still further, a true devotee of the highest order, is psychologically so molded that he has only one thought and one feeling and he says, “Mother’s Will is my will.”
One more point. Why should devotees forego their claims to all their assets? Suppose there is quite an extra-ordinary robber who very dexterously stole away some precious ornaments from a Prince’s palace. He has suffered, he has passed through rigorous imprisonment  and has been wise and is earning his bread by honest labor, in a small village.
Suppose a fire broke out in the village, and the thief, now a thorough gentleman saved a family and the prince has proclaimed a big prize for whoever comes forth and proves that it was he who saved the family from the fire.
Will he go? Will you go? He shudders at the idea, of having to go to very same palace and very same prince. He does not want to take any chance, lest the ornament of the palace may tempt him again and all his labour of evolution be again lost. He forgoes the prize. Even if someone said, it was he who saved the family, he would not admit it. To apply this illustration, to be able to have the opportunity of enjoying his dues, he would be placed in the tempting world once more. He may get the prize but there is again the chance of being tempted away and rotting under a rigorous imprisonment.

The relationship of Mother and child is so very sacred and secret, that during their communion, no deity dare peep, much less record what takes place.

Justice demands that a certain crime, say insulting the judge, is punishable with say a hundred lashes. Even a Henry, a prince, has to undergo the punishment, but the prince lashing will be quite different from a dacoit-lashing.

God taking delight in remaining as enslaved by devotees through devotion.

Devotion is a relationship between a person and God the Creator, Protector and Dispenser of the Universe including the whole of humanity. It is the tender most emotion of the devotee with the most persistent desire and effort to maintain the relationship at any cost, and at any sacrifice including even life-surrendering.It begins with desire of seeking protection from the dangers and difficulties that the devotee is beset with at every stage and step during his living. The man on the path of devotion accumulates his qualifications for the granting of the solicited protection by means of obedience to the commandments let down in scriptures, and serving saints and seeking their guidance, and molding the details of his life and living accordingly.
Once the seed of devotion is sown, the aspirant  progresses more and more speedily, because he is under the guidance of invisible souls and forces. From selfishness and worldliness he rises to selflessness and oneness with the devotee world of advance souls on the same path. Later, he no longer prays for relief, does not accept gifts and takes the highest pleasure in standing as giver of however little to others, and yet with the highest humility.

The protection seeker is a mediocre devotee ( Gauna Bhakta) and the giver who has been also endowed with divine knowledge is the superior devotee( paraa-bhakta ). The third stage of divine love is reached when the relationship between a devotee and his God has ripened to full reality of human relationship as in body and flesh. Thereafter, the universe and its complicated working and consideration of one’s own needs and conditions, as they arise from time to time, gradually slip away from the devotee’s consideration and concern, and become extinct. Nothing else remains except the Devotee, the God and the Love interconnecting them both. The surrendering of one’s everything and one’s self and the feeling of the most excruciating pain on getting the idea of physical or mental or spiritual separateness from one’s God, is the principal characteristic of the divine love. The idea of superiority and inferiority gradually vanishes, especially whenever, the devotee experiences the highest fervor of that love, amounting  to Passion. The readiness to do anything for the sake of one’s God,who is then his The Only One – The beloved is immeasurable and the only desire and goal is that of being ever in company with and in service of The Beloved. The devotee is , then, one with The Beloved and ever willing to merge The One Beloved, with fullest unification and identification, after the most complete  disintegration of the smallest thing in or about him, which can be traced, developed or magnified to establish or infer any separateness of his individuality from The  One  Beloved.

When a devotee reaches the stage of Divine Love, he has no demand, or desire and no expectation of return. Nothing else pleases him except companionship with The One Beloved. To be living with the mind, refusing to be  engaged  in anything else except what  relates to The Beloved is thorn piercing condition or out of water fish condition for him. Even if the mind is forcefully distracted by others on account of circumstances and requirements of life and living, it forcefully rushes back to The Beloved , as soon as free from other clutches. None else except The Beloved is felt as one’s own. There is a conviction that there is no higher pleasure. Whatever has any relation with The Beloved gets a dazzling and gives a dancing color and temperament . There is inner perfect faith that The Beloved though indifferent unkind and even seemingly cruel has been all the while viewing him, feeling for him and is ready to make sacrifice even much greater than his own.He feels as if he is in race with The Beloved in matter of entertaining greater intensity of  love and a greater readiness of making self-sacrifice, with the ambition of securing the glorious position of having been admittedly the greater giver, and the greater sacrificer.
He rejects supernatural powers and even sovereignty of the whole universe.

His joy is to be ever remembering His Beloved, and to be ever experiencing horripilation , throat-choking, sighs, sobs, tears outright laughing or weeping, dancing, prattling and absent mindedly ceasing to do anything. He gets above all notions all honour and dishonour, and of shamefulness and shamelessness, acts something rashly, motivelessly and meaninglessly, sometimes impatiently and behaves sometimes as if drunk or lunatic.

His permanent feeling is that he has nothing else remaining to be achieved, there is nothing else to be sorry or envious about, that he has perfected himself in every thing else . He has no fears even of dying, and has no other ambition. One thing about which he gets gluttonous in the companionship. He craves more and more for the constant touch with The Beloved and gets more and more dissatisfied with the love stages which he is , so rapidly climbing one after another.

He experiences that his Indriyas, organs of knowledge and action , the eyes etc., have risen in rebellion and have been determinedly refusing to do anything except what relates to the One Beloved. The portrait of his Beloved is dancing before his closed or open eyes. The heart and head is fully occupied with the Beloved and Beloved’s thoughts, leaving no space for anything else.  He feels he has sold himself away. He feels nothing else exists for him except him and his Beloved. He feels he does not exists at all. He feels nothing else exists except His Beloved. He feels everything is His Beloved’s and in the form of His Beloved.
Finally even though the ” I ” of his has disappeared, he becomes unable to bear, the idea that though it is the Beloved Herself, Mother, she should not have two aspects, even nominally viz., one as the lover in him and another as the Beloved outside him.He is unable bear the idea of himself being different from Mother or Mother being even temporarily imagined as different from him. Even the imaginary difference of the Lover and the Beloved, becomes too unbearable and there is the final most desire of complete mergence.

Importance of Divine Mother’s Names repetitions

UNIVERSAL DIVINE MOTHER MAI
UNIVERSAL DIVINE MOTHER MAI

The Divine Mother Mai has similarly left us, as Her boon, ” MAI SAHASRANAMA ” [ MOTHER’S THOUSAND NAMES ]. It is meant to be repeated with the Universal Mai-conception, with the predominating key-notes of Love and Service. It is symbolical of “Love” as against “Power”, and of ” Mother ” as against Shakti, the fulfill-er of one’s desires. Mai has Friday, the day of Venus, as Her special day, as against Tuesday, the day of Mars (of Shakti). The Text is the very same as the sacred and secret “Lalitha Sahasranama”, coming down to us from centuries, but in strictest secrecy from the Guru to the Shishya. It is rejuvenated, with re-shuffling and re-sorting of the names, with a view to regenerating its living effect and with a new interpretation, a new outlook, a new belief and a new faith, to add Universality and to delete all secondary superfluity.

There are multitudes of deities, multitudes of saintly souls and multitudes of self-realized and Mother-realized souls, that are anxious to encourage, uplift, instruct, guide, protect and apotheosize those that are sincerely desirous of Mother’s Grace. These are known as Divyaugha, Maanavaugha, and Siddhaugha or Paramgurus,, Paraapargurus, and Apara Gurus respectively.

If a devotee recites one of the names narrated in this little work even once, he should be known as most dear to Mother and Mother will grant him all that he desires.

If he always recites these names to please Mother, he will obtain, undoubtedly all his moral and legitimate desires by Mother’s Grace.

Divine Mother tolerates our weakness but not wickedness

Let the world demand and Mother shall give peace and happiness. The trouble is , the world wants all happiness without obeying the Divine Laws , remaining all the while violating the Law, and remaining fretting and fuming with ever-ungratefulness and rebelliousness, he can be capable of.

Mother can set things aright in no time with a High Supreme Command. But then where is the playfulness and joy ?? Mother wants to enjoy the pleasures of seeing how people try to cheat Her, ignore Her, insult Her. How far does the mankind go? Thinking too much by itself by itself? She tolerates our weakness but not wickedness. A king plays with his companions. So many defeat him. So may quarrel and play tricks with him, but as soon as he says, “Stop”- finished. Everyone immediately gets up as if by an electric shock, leaving all the cards and horses and elephants of a chess, there and then, as mere puppets. All shouting and quarreling and claiming disappears in a second.

Where is again the pleasure and joy in lovability shown by others to us if it is under compulsion??

I order every child of mine must prostrate to me on leaving the bed. Is there any real pleasure in having such a prostrations? The joy proceeds when you leave them to act as they like and someone prostrates. The pleasure of prostration is , when there is no compulsion and no automatic mechanical prostration.

The independent path of Love towards God as Mother

There is quite an independent path of love. Love between God and devotees. Love between the Highest spirit and the soul’s spirit, where there is no other hindrance on any ground whatsoever. It is as good as mechanical Law of a magnet and an iron, the iron piece may be rusted or brilliant, it may be anything, of any color or any shape.
It is we who mix up the matters. We jumble up the Ideal of God as Mother or Love with God who runs the Universe, who can adjust matters to our advantage. How you fare in life and world, should become entirely foreign inadmissible and irrelevant matter in the said independent path of Love. The return of Love is Love and not prosperity, power, removal of calamities, subjugation of opponents, etc. Love means absolutely nothing else. The jumbling is there; don’t jumble up Mother as Mother to Her child and Mother as the Criatrix and Disposer of the Universe and controller of individual life with all joys and sorrows, pleasure and pains.

You love Mother but in return, you want the whole pleasure and wealth of the world. If you are satisfied with Love of Mother’s towards you, your love and readiness to die for Her is in quite sufficient and is independent of all the religious requirements and equipment. There only the plain and scientific law holds. You weep out of separation from Mother, Mother runs to you. She heals you up and your wounds in a hospital; She bandages you. But mind, She runs not necessarily to give you and what you want and to help you out of your own dug up pit falls. She runs to you to remove your pangs of separation. She too runs also because She can’t remain without running. She loves you hundred fold. “Loving Mother means becoming Mother ” that is second unfailing divine law. Mother’s mandate to Her devotees, regarding their attitude towards the world, in spite of the latter’s worldliness and possible wickedness, is “Be Mother to all, as I have been to you.” Do you want Mother for Mother’s sake? Well, there your way is clear and open. There is an independent path of divine love, which does not make any other achievement indispensable. That is the innermost teaching of Mai-ism.

What a terrible earth-and-sky difference , there is , between the stage of an intellectual knowledge and the conviction, realization and corroboration of a certain truth !! And what a terribly long time period  passes between the two stages ? One life with the maximum time thereof best utilized seems to be almost nothing , and not sufficient time at all. Just imagine the stage of a soul of a murderer or plunderer who can do his job with the sacred name of Rama or Krishna in his lips. Next, that of one who falls unconscious out of divine love, as soon a she hears  the sacred name uttered by someone else. On the basis of the extent of progress which an average worldly soul is able to make up in one life in the matter of what he was, before and after, or at the beginning and at the end  , just try to imagine how many lives  are required to rise  from the above one stage to another !!! We are lost in the ocean of perplexities, with no shores or lands in sights. Before the realization of a certain truth, so many stages, degrees and intensities have to be passed. It is an indispensable requirement for realizing the relish of  ”living after death “, that this world of ours , so much bright and righteous looking  and infatuating should have been first realized , to have been, after all, only a forest and desert. True relishfulness of life and living, begins after non-attachment, relinquishment, renunciation and realization of nothingness of the world.

Blessed be the name of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa , the first Mother’s child. Mother Herself, that came on earth to teach Her universal simplified speedy religion.

Blessed be the name of Revered Shri Swami Vivekananda  ( Shiva Incarnate ) who as Mother’s lion roamed over the whole world  and tore to pieces , all the demoniacal forces of superstition, ignorance, atheism, abuse, exploitation, intolerance, pride-blindness, etc., in respect of religiosity, and who introduces the element of universal widened out-look in all religions of the world.

Prayer to Divine Mother

The task too tremendous for a tyro is over. I cannot recall any desire or determination behind this completion. Thou alone know-est how, why, whence and for whom for.
If there be any such entity as ” I ” and any such reality that I consented myself to be used, and any such thing as a right to be compensated for having volunteered to be used, Mother !! Merciful Mother !!  Bless the readers of this work which has its greatness only in virtue of the greatness of Thee, Thyself. Be any one name alone by Thy Grace sufficient to fan the smallest spark of devotion to flame.
This is , however , the age of incapacity, impurity, helplessness, poverty and complicated competitive, short-sighted, short and twenty four hours wrist watched living. The disease of irreligiosity and nausea against ages born scriptures are great. Few of this age are capacious enough to scale the giddy heights of scriptural lore and Practice Upaasanaa with patience-trying rituals.

Dear Mother !! Adapt Thyself to the capacities of Thy children. Let it be enough in Thy eyes that Thy children may consider themselves fully qualified for Thy Grace as soon as they practice Universal love, Universal service, sincere Devotion to Thee in any form and unconditional cheerful Self-surrender to Thy divine will.
Be Thou satisfied with mere repetition of Thy sacred name without any rituals or restriction : – Jaya Maai Jaya Markand Maai.
That Thou hast been satisfied has been my conviction and it is this conviction based on the most miraculous happenings that has emboldened me to sing Thy glory and espouse Thy cause in publicity. If I had no conviction I would have confined myself to my methods for myself alone.

Although I laugh at my folly, and incapacity, I feel happy, for I am more than convinced that the whole religious understanding and practice needs thorough over-hauling and re-casting and I have raised and protruded my finger constructively. It is one thing to say things ought to be like so and so and another thing to install Mother with certain revised conceptions. One is merely an opinion. Another thing is the  hereditary action, the actual materialization of Divine will, with the zeal of seeing the command carried out. Rightly or wrongly I have always felt Thou hast desired me and even authorized me to speak of Thee. Authority makes all the difference. Authority en-souls, Authority installs,  Authority raises temples from talks, Authority forms institutions from families. Blessed Mother, soon send amongst us the authorized, the anointed, the crowned, the conquest-blessed.

For my poor capacity I have done enough to hope for Thy sweet smile. I have at best directed my finger to Thee, I am Blessed. Let me not restrain my tears of highest joy, of humility and gratefulness. Mother bless us all.

My dear Mother !! Let me talk to Thee in public as in our solitude. Wind up Thy sport.  Let Thy passion of wearing the garland of the wounded go. Let Thy play of ” Agitation, attraction, liquefaction, infatuation, submission and dissolution ” go. Reserve that play for playmates that volunteer  themselves for being woundedDo not test. None of this age would stand Thy tests. Be accomodative. If Thou dost not, no daughter or son will harbor Thee under the roof of her or his heart.
Give give, Pour pour, Deluge deluge, Deluge with Thy thousand hands, on them that remember Thee through any one of these sacred names, like Surbhi, the celestial cow, like Kalpadruma, the celestial tree, like Chintaamani, the wonderful gem, like a Mother , like Thee Thyself.

With the mercifulness of Mother, consider nothing about the worth of Thy devotees, perpetual or casual, sincere or insincere, disinterested or interested, real or nominal, sinless or sinful, learned or illiterate, salvation-seeking or enjoyment-seeking, self-controlled or self-centered, ritual-scripture-conversant or ritual-scripture-ignorant, Guru-following or Guru-belittling, Guru-acknowledging or Guru-disowning, grateful or ungrateful.

Mother !!  We are hopelessly and shamefully lacking in the last and least return of Thy Grace. We are ungrateful. But then why do we call Thee “Mother” !! Though sexless !! Who has ever felt grateful to her or his mother !! And which Mother has ever measured Her Grace !!

Mother !! If Thou shalt say ‘ No ‘, where shall we go !!

Thy mystic and mysterious power of Thy Lotus Feet is known to few. Devotees have sweetly sung about their power of prosperity and plentifulness, but the other side !! The process of creating colors from coals.

I have craved Thy Beloved’s kick to claim Thy caress. I have prostrated myself in hope to see that my grip of Thy Lotus Feet may be showered with Thy consolation. From lifelessness to desirefulness and from desirefulness to desirelessness, what else but Thy lotus Feet and Thy Love, has been Infinite Reservoir of all Powers and the power of achieving the undreamt of sublimation and transformation !!
Mother!! Burn Thy heavens and extinguish Thy hells. Make us all live with Love, Service, Devotion and Self-Surrender, Around Thee, With Thee, In Thee.
Let Thy wicked, way-ward over-fondled, booby lie, live or die as Thou choosest, but in Thy Lotus Feet alone.

Thy Wicked Child,

MARKAND

Universal Divine Mother Mai is the very essence of all mantras.

Universal Divine Mother Mai is the very essence of all mantras.
By concentration on Mother as mother, the supreme divine energy of loving others results in trying to identify oneself with Her as Hers. Gradually the perception of the fullness of the individuality is felt and the development of such perception is later more and more experienced, Identification stated above is Concentration or Anusandhaan अनुसंधान, Perception is Mantra-Siddhi मन्त्रसिध्दी, or the success of the mantra repetition and the full development is Anubhavaअनुभव or realization.
There is no marketing, no mechanical doing of something, somehow, leading us somewhere, no bargaining with the deity, no chasing and no cheating.“YOUR’S IS TO PRAY, AND IT IS HER WILL TO GRANT OR NOT”. At every step in this life, there is some difficulty of illness, affliction, poverty, painfulness, etc.

How long to wonder and how often to break one’s head and empty one’s purse, in the search of almost a mirage!!! Mai-ism says “Miseries will be endless”. Make yourself proof to them. Seek Grace, pray without  despondency in case the prayers are not heard. Practice living cheerfully., with the spirit of self-surrender, in any circumstances. Further as a result of grant of the request, a devotee does not get deluded as a Siddha (if at all there is any), because he does not consider himself to be the giver or the worker.
Readers would not rest satisfied till they know, if this theory is supported by practical experience, and I may reply to them.
There is the other side, as well. Mantras has laudable uses, when (1) they serve magnetic healing or abating of diseases, etc., for very general abating of miseries;

(2) For ornamental grandeur, decency, poetry, sublimity, purification of place and mind, inviting a deity or seeking grace, or (3) as spiritual diplomacy to pull out disciple from the mud-mire of worldliness by offering baits under the temptation of the benefits, gradually introducing him to the higher world of God, Guru, Devotees, etc.

What a tremendous power, Maya holds over the little mind of man

The Founder says,” There are wheels within wheels and any effort of the type eludes grip. It is as it were Maya were strongly thwarting any effort of establishing permanent lights in a blind alley.”Says She, as it were, “ It is my wish, my rights, my order, my jurisdiction whether a certain man is able to see God’s finger in a certain miraculous happening or not. You can’t reduce me to a formula or a mechanism or a vanquished .The blindness of  man will never disappear and the secret of the understanding  will not show itself, till God’s or Guru’s Grace showers.”

Today a man weeps with unceasing tears of gratitude to Guru and God for being saved from, say, a heart failure. To-morrow his mind changes and he says he was a fool to bring in God’s Grace and goes even to call his Guru a delusion creator. When another occasion of calamity befalls him, he is again full of tears and thanks giving. Let one day more go and he is again the very same dissenter. He consider his God’s finger , vision, gratitude and thanks giving  to be the symptoms and acts of an indescribable weakness in some thing like delirium  when he was no longer himself. He thinks “I was over powered with some unshakable irresistible force. Now I am free from that temporary mental debility.”

During a calamity, a man is not himself, he becomes lamb-like , God fearing, obedient, humble and God-approaching. He is entirely a different man with different outlook and way of judging and thinking. God, Guru, Divine Law, sins, sufferings, all look standing ready to rush upon him. The calamity being over , he returns to his original self  and wonders how , so very lion hearted , he had become lamb like . It is only the good luck of few blessed to have a conviction about which stage was really superior. Like King Janaka, few lose themselves in meditation over the contrast of the two different and often contradictory states.

That accounts for a man’s ingratitude and forgetfulness about God’s and Guru’s Grace. That is Maya’s thick blindfolding veil, and man is more to be pitied than to be blamed, when one realises what a powerful overturning force this Maya enshrouds a man with; the Maayaa , which makes the man think , he was overclouded with a delusion , when in reality he was in direct touch with the Truth.

What a tremendous power, Maya holds over the little mind of man!!! A coal during an electric temperature has the luster of diamond. It cools down and again becomes coal. The dog is wise only for the moments he is in the kitchen and till the serving lasts. Serving finished, kitchen closed, the dog is again a dog.

But, all the same. Mai-ism is very optimistic. What is wanted  is hundreds of repetitions and any man becomes surely much better than before , with pains, patience  and perseverance, The higher the spiritual and religious  and moral stage and living of a man , the greater is the peace of mind happiness and cessation of misery. This is the most automatic result though often invisible and unrecognized. The electric current proceeding from an electric station of a city being stronger and brighter, there is nothing but  lustrous joyfulness in every branch  but goes to make the city happy through the electric power . The bakery, the cotton mill the street light, the lift everything runs smoothly and brilliantly. Mai-ism says, strengthen your current and fill up your batteries  by living a life of Love, Service, Devotion and Self-Surrender, Merely changing bulbs and frequent switching off and on , can not help you, if the current itself is already weak. Switch your red Ribbon key of your Mind-type-machine. All letters thereafter are not black or blue but auspicious bold red.

BE ATTRACTED TO MOTHER.

Pray, Pray and Pray. Concentrate, consolidate yourself. Be attracted to Mother, the Highest Center and Resource of all Powers and Welfare you can imagine. You will have attractive return. Make your environment happy by Love and Service. Make your inner self stronger, purest and quieter by Devotion and self-Surrender. You are many times much better. You will make yourself happy and make all around you happy. How to do that is not so difficult. The desire must be there. The discrimination must be there. The decision must be there. The determination must be there. The rest automatically follows as a dish by Divine Mother on crying determinedly hard.

Secret of self improvement

The secret of self-improvement is “Contact with people in better society, better environment and better atmosphere “. If you have the Guru – Shishya relationship with a worthy Guru, that problem is mainly solved. That however cannot be good-luck of everyone.

Take as a unit the dealing-region of yourself with your God, guru, wife, life-long friend and so on. Each relationship is a simple unit. Take further a complex unit of yourself with your father’s family, your own family, your relations, your society of friends, your professional brothers, your caste-people, your community people, your locality people, your co-disciples and your co-workers in common cause. There is a great wonderful course that each unit exerts on an individual. The self-preservation instinct is at work. None wants to be thrown out, abandoned and cast to the winds. A man may not care for being moral and virtuous, or for being a religious, but he wants a fullest sympathy of the society and of the immediately surrounding people around. Just study a few cases, of vast changes in different families coming over to reside in a big cosmopolitan city. Customs, habits, prejudices, manners, purdah-importance, jealousy, outlook-narrowness, husband-superiority, stinginess, quarrelsomeness, callousness, bluntness, ruffian-ism, in the heart within – everything change so wonderfully and in no time. The inner pinch of self-interest and self-preservation and the desire of gaining a higher and higher footing is there at full work.

Let therefore the wisest man be extremely careful about his selection of his simple units and complex units. Inspite of the highest boast of intellect and originality, man is after all an apish imitator and a social creature with a gregarian mentality.  Man cannot live without some association of some human beings. Group formations and group isolation are only manifestations of human nature. That is natural and even indispensable, for the purpose of self-improvement, spontaneous pleasure and the maximum efficiency and relishfulness of life. The social fear of being thrown out, asocial boycott, is no small remedy to keep everyone straight and obedient to the common collective rules, customs and living ways and beliefs (at least the express ones) of every group.

Take a complex unit. After all the additions and subtraction, that particular units has its positive attributes, say one unit has goodness, morality, virtue and religiousness; another unit has badness, immorality, vice  and irreligiousness. Each group unit exerts a certain influence  over every individual of a group and tries to pull and conquer the same to be nearer and nearer the central attribute. Everyone likes to be in intimate touch with others of the same ways. Everyone feels at home, ridden of all constraints in one’s own group alone. Everyone gets extremely uneasy and constrained in a foreign environment , and everyone tries to be more or less like the group to which one belongs

Thus a good unit will turn the worst into worse, the worse into bad, the bad into good, the good into better, the better into best. A bad unit will turn the best into better, the better into good, the good into bad, the bad into worse, the worse into worst. That is why collective degeneration travels many times much faster than individual degeneration.

Good individuals placed in bad units, have most helplessly to be bad. Theses are chains, in which individual links have no strength, and often, the maximum strength of the chain itself, is nothing more than that of the weakest link in the chain. Good man in bad units, have to bad for self defense, and self-preservation. They have to be an indiscernible drop of the same water. Further everyone’s most natural desire to go higher and higher in rank, in one’s society, he wants to stand high with goodness; if in bad one, by badness. He wants to win the general applause ” I am well-known someone ” – egoistic pleasure. No force is as massive as the mass-force. If turned to politics, it may bring independence. If turned to religion, it may bring back universal true religiosity in a few decades. A regularly established automatic special huge machinery works wonders. It is because of the fullest knowledge of the highest efficiency of this machinery working., that religious have stooped to laying down certain rules and customs, for the smooth and efficient running , and maintaining the general efficiency of  different groups. This most wonderfully working force , must be prominently before  the minds of religious reformers , when they take up any religious rejuvenating work, if solid practicability has to be achieved.

A dog appears to have some significance in religious experience

The Founder of Mai-ism,  Mai Swarup Mai Markand, was given a bungalow as a guest to temporarily reside. On the first Friday in Hubli, a big gathering was held there and rich prasad and sweets were distributed. Just then, a bitch got in and she was driven out without giving a bit and with a stick. At 2 A.M. after departure of all, Founder prayed to Mother for the success of the first gathering in Hubli; he had not taken his meals. He had a joy of the success but an overwhelming sorrow at the idea of the bitch being beaten out without a bit of bread. He was disgusted with man’s non-consideration for other men, what to speak of animals! In a great disgust, he decided not to take his meals and laid himself down on his cot. At half past twothe very same bitchwhich was turned out with beatingcame out from below the cotbegan to lick the Founder and pulled his garments towards the kitchen!!! The Founder was happy like anything. Can you imagine the weeping of the Founder on seeing Mother’s Grace?? He was superstitious enough to believe, it was not the very bitch. He went to the puja-room, worshipped the bitch and began to eat with the bitch, his now meals, partaking with the bitch half to half. He caressed the bitch, “Are you now satisfied?” “Mother? Hast Thou sent a bitch to see that I am jolly and not sorrow-ridden and to see that I do not sleep hungry?” He wept with his face against the bed, out of gratitude. When he opened his eyes after composure, he was surprised to see that the bitch was nowhere there in the whole bungalow of which all the doors had been locked before going to bed.

Somehow a dog appears to have some significance in religious experience. Yudhisthir’s dog faithfully accompanied Yudhisthir in Himalayas, at his end. There are instances of saints [ e.g. Saint Namdev of Maharashtra State, 13th Century ] having run after a dog, who took away their bread, not to beat him as world imagined, but to give butter to be applied to the loaf. There is a mention of a similar meal-sharing with a dog in several accounts of saints. I quote one here. “The master, Blessed Shree Mai-Swarup Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, saw a monk taking the leavings of the beggar’s meals with some dogs from the heap of the discarded leaf-plates. He had one of his arms around a dog’s neck and man and dog were eating from the same plate. The dog was quite at home with him.

There is a wonderful account about the pet dog of Sree Bhakta Raj Shivanand Sen, one of the dearest devotees of Lord Chaitanya Gauranga Prabhu. Bhaktaraj did his best to keep him home, while he prepared for a long journey for Prabhu’s Darshan. He was taken with great trouble. On the way, the dog saw he was a cause of so much trouble to his master and left him. Shivanand was extremely sorry and began to almost weep with the remembrance of the dog’s faithfulness. Anyhow, composing himself, he proceeded to Lord Gauranga’s place. On reaching and entering Lord’s place, what did he see? The Lord is patting and feeding a dog sitting by his side. Which is that dog? The very same. The dog had never before come to the Lord’s place. A faithful dog follows the devotee master to the last.

Miracles. No change after vision.

The Founder does not give great importance to miracles but there is surely a stage when the miracles do the eye-opening work for many people who are really of an atheistic mentality, but who courteously and not honestly assent to the beliefs about the existence of the other world, or life after death, or invisible spirits, deities and God. Their assent is only mostly out of fear of being thrown out from society of God-believers and for so many other reasons. Saints do not count upon miracles to enlarge their influence, but these are casual happenings managed by the Deities themselves to enhance the value of their devotees so that, they be heard with love, faith and sanctity, respect and obedience. The Founder very humorously says, “How do miracles help you and me, if you do not make a point of being of the deserving plane in the matter of your devotion, love, service and surrender? I would show you actual Mai Herself, but you are the same person that you were before the Vision. You would be telling Mother, “We, I and my wife, are going to cinema. Please rock the cradle of this child and keep meals ready, when we return.” “Where is the joyfulnessthe ecstasythe madnessthe feeling of having been blessed? Where is even the readiness to lose only an atom of your selfishness and worldliness? You would be simply exploiting Mother, and that too most discontentedly and ungratefully. ” Mother do this and Mother do that“, yourself doing nothing for Mother except babbling some few words of praisea little trouble of twisting your tongue to cheat the worldyourself and the Guru hypocritically. Mother is afraid of you all. The height of ungratefulness is that you do not even talk about your gratitude or even of the experience to your husband, wife, children, friends or neighbors; not even to a sparrow, nor permit even walls to hear you. You bury the experience and gratitude, both, then and there. She prefers being neglected and ignored rather than be exploited and expedited and expelled after your need is served.”

Guru indispensable

Returning to the Founder’s daily diet-like subject of deep thinking over religious experiences , to form his own conclusions, the Founder can’t be satisfied,” If it is all a question of one’s own will, why does anyone need even the Guru?? Why can one not perfect one’s own powers, by considering oneself as Mother or God??”

Founder decided perhaps, for development of one’s muscles, etc. a big mirror is indispensable .Guru may do nothing, but he is indispensable. It is that clay image of Guru Drona द्रोण which made the hunter powerful enough to defeat Arjuna अर्जुन .

For sometime, though not with full seriousness, he began to think about “The theory of Guru Vaakya Sidddhi गुरू वाक्य सिध्दी .” It meant this,” If you have a faith that your Guru is God and simply go on pleasing him, you need not have the same views and beliefs and living as his or as he advises,. You need not be obeying .Guru must be loving you  and very generally wishing the desires be fulfilled , without any special effort or concentration or prayer to Mother , on the part of the disciple. Guru’s promise and your faith that his promise will not go unfulfilled , are enough for any worldly success. ” That is what it comes to , although we may fully believe  the theory to be flaw-ful some where .One more slip and it leads us to western semi-atheistic theory of “Individual Will Power.”

Founder did feel there was some flaw, somewhere. This theory, so to say, dispensed with God and Religion and even the need of a man-to-man happy relationship. Where was the flaw?? The Founder constantly tried to locate the flaw. The flaw was detected one day. It is this, the day due to some reason or another , the idea of Godhood in Guru disappears, the whole fabric collapses; and that is most natural, as any Guru is after all, a human being. Such borrowed religiosity is only quite a temporary phase in life, like some Abu Hasan being made an Emperor for one day, the next day he is again the beggar in the street . Like the heavenly child of Love, Religiosity also comes and goes at it wills. One cannot give any satisfactory explanation for its coming or going. In some cases , the Founder has seen there is a huge religious  wave of irresistible force due to  a strong placatory  or prarabdha प्रारब्ध  influence. It is temporary and persons again revert to their natural plane with a strong reaction.

Prefer Mother’s Mercy

Founder  says,” To the worldly man as also to the most religious but routine man, there is nothing worth thinking about in the divine plan  regarding arrangement in the relationship of any two persons. On moment, any two persons are pulling on well. Another moment, they don’t pull on. What is there to be thought about?? This subject is however extremely deep, deeper than all the meanings of the known shlokas of various scriptures. It is called YOGAANUYOGA योगानुयोग, in religious language,” Actual union or happening in obedience to the pre-ordained union or happening “, The truth, as Founder puts, is this :

Leave people of the usual mass, eat-drink and be-marry-mentality, when we come to the details of higher relations ; it is an unfathomable Divine arrangement that any persons live together almost as inseparable , so long as God Almighty desires them to learn  certain lessons from each other .The moment the lessons are learnt , without any reason worth the name , the certain supreme indescribable attraction –  an attraction which could not be substituted  or evaded , most speedily sublimates and evaporates, just as some solids become gases  without liquefaction.

Mother’s ways mysterious. Scientists declare inability.

Mother’s ways are most mysterious. None has been able to fathom and none shall be. Best scientists have declared their inability .The world has before its eyes, what little thing comes forth to light through the discover of the Science , but the world never once considers  how vast is the unknownness of  things , and it gets swollen-headed, as it has fathomed  the whole mystery of the universe – working , and being to dance most boisterously.

The more we go deep , the greater becomes the fright of mysteriousness , till we come to conclude “Man is only Ignorance and Inability  .All tall talks of vices and virtues, and man being the architect of his own fortune vanish in the air. You can simply explain away failures, but not create a guarantee of success. The world totters before the Divine Will of Some Power of unimaginable. How far does our saying, such and such action will unfailingly to such and such action, stand finally true, in our daily life?? (We are not talking of scientific physical truths here.)

Study life. We often get a reward for nothing and it is undeserved. On the other hand we get punishment when we deserve to be rewarded. We strive hard to do or get a thing, we can’t do or don’t get it. On the other hand, we do get things which we never strive for.

Does this not suggest that there is some Higher Power which decides matters and governs us!! Does an action of the same nature lead invariably to the result of the same nature??  No.

How many complications are there, to render one action possible, efficacious or otherwise? How many factors are under your control? How many slips? Who is then the Actor?? Who deserves credit for certain result? Who decides what should be the result? And who gives it??

Mai-ism says,” Don’t be a curiosity-seeker and questioner, in the matter of mysteries beyond your limitations. The only thing practically possible is attributing what can’t be understood or solved, to Mother’s Divine Will.  Subordinate your intellect to Divine Faith. Prefer to be over-powered with mother’s Glory and Mercy, to being humiliated in your vain efforts with your disappointment and God’s displeasure.

Be ready to be taught , with the firmness of humility and duty , to walk in the Divine Path. Mother Herself will reveal you ,as you advance ,as much of the secret as is necessary and beneficial to you  for your further progress towards Her. Whom She selects , that person alone can know and understand the secret and that too only a fragment.

The best answer to all various doubts and questions is to tie down your mind (she-monkey) to the Lotus Feet of Mother, and drown her in an opium doze of devotion. If it were possible to learn the universe-ruling mysteries Mother would not have been called Incomprehensible and unspeakable Almighty.

The mystery has to be learnt in the language of silence by the Guru. You can rise above the imperfection of being troubled with doubtfulness and attain a stag, where the mind does not leave its bliss to invite uneasiness under doubts. That is the Real Stage. That is the Real Substance and that is the permanent work to be done. No answers originated and obtained from the mental plane will give you permanent satisfaction.

Study of past records of life lived Record before 1914 illustrated

It is extremely desirable that India, now an Independent Nation, should introduce the system of preparing a record of life lived by people, in a particular period of say 30 to 50 years. This record should be containing information, about the different activities and moralities and religiosities, and principal features of the social life, the individual life, family life, remarkable instances of helps, friendships, enmities, charities likes and dislikes, services and sacrifices, sentiments and fashions, change in beliefs, customs, traditions and cultural manifestations, transitions in types of activities and mentalities etc , in addition to the usual collection of facts, as at present under census statistics.

Only the study of the past can guide and help a nation to form its future. In spite of our loudest cries about our past civilisation, which are surely deserved and justified,  we have no recorded and connected history of any nature. We know only how our grandfathers lived and died, because we personally saw them. Regarding our great grandfathers, we are entirely in the oblivion. Would a man of today or tomorrow believe, our great grandfathers were not beggars as of today, bent to make out every pie out of what Nature gave them so bountifully, or what the abuse of intellect could have given ??

Let me at least make a beginning of such a record here. Before 1914, we used to roll in plentifulness regarding food, and quite happy about the real necessities of life. There were so many instances of poor relations staying with rich ones for months and years and even for lives. Fruits like mangoes were freely distributed in streets and among acquaintances. It was a dishonor for any zamindar to sell fruits. Buildings of rich people were available at nominal rents, with no greed of return, just for being “taken care of‘. Rich people sent over bags of grains and packets of clothes to poor people without causing any humiliation, in an unknown manner. Sugarcane field-owners and coconut trees’ and fruit-owners invited all, and gave an established right to any passer-by, to take as much juice or eat as many sugarcane and fruits as he liked.  Women during pregnancy would get all ornaments to wear, owned by all relations and class-people. A poor man would be helped to defray the expenses of a marriage of his children, with helpful solid presents to him by all around. A poor man will have dainty dishes to eat in castle-dinners, or at rich man’s places for about a hundred days in a year.

What honesty ! What charity ! What a belief, what I earn is not mine or of my wife and children alone ! ! What a trustworthiness ? ? What a magnanimity ? The modern man lets loose the fireworks of his rotten rebellious hot-headed excuses. A millionaire today is more beggarly to a needy stranger, than an ordinary villager of the past with a hand-to-mouth living. It is no use giving reasons which explain, how we have degenerated, the stages of our degeneration, as the causes and justifications of the same. How does not explain, why at least does. Let there be the record of the history of Hindus, about what our forefathers were and what we are, without any paraphernalia of justifications.

To be a debtor, cheat or a misappropriator was the greatest dishonor ; conscience-pricks, and social belittlement punished people more smartingly and effectively than the law courts. Creditors maintained every respect of their debtors on one hand; and, on the other, even grandsons repaid the debts of their grandfathers and family, together with interest. No rich man dined alone; and in towns, you would so often find, rich men themselves walking over to their destinations on foot, and lending their carriages to some needy relations or acquaintances. People took pleasure in giving, serving and sacrificing. People had their personal harmless pride as the best men of their society, regarding goodness, virtue, morality and charity. People, so to say, cared for their personal honors, family traditions and ancestral greatness. So many poor people enjoyed music, sight-seeing, medicines etc., free, provided they had the humility, reverence, goodness and straightforwardness. the poor had practically a legitimate right and share of enjoyment in the fundamentals of human requirements, in the richness of the rich.  The poor never envied the rich, because the rich parted with a substantial portion of their richness, and on the top thereof, maintained an appearance of social equality. The rich showed humility, although sometimes affected and attributed their greatness to their prarabdha, and not to intellectual or financial greatness.

Such were the great grandfathers of the modern money-mendicants, who are simply the formations and conglomerates of selfishness from their nails to the highest head-hair.

Will the modern man believe this fact ? A rich man known for his religious piety and supernatural powers was once visited by a poor lady, who approached him with a request, to permit her to rub a piece of iron with his sacred feet, as she learnt that that would be turned into gold.

The rich man was staggered. He said “Let me have that piece and go to the worship and prayer room. You are right, but only partly. Iron turns into gold, but not on rubbing it with the feet of a poor sinful man like me.  That belief is true, in respect of the image I worship.”  He went in the prayer room, took out his own gold equal to the weight of the iron piece, and handed it over to the lady. Satans of to-day call this a folly. There has been a pinching bankruptcy of even appreciators of goodness, virtue and charity.

If there is no recorded faithful historywhat remains for the posterity is the natural and justified attitude of a disgustful disbelief and an outright denial. If there is no recorded history of generations to generations, where is the ideal to follow, and the inspiration and basic material to judge our amelioration and deterioration ? Unless we have an idea of a superior living or superior powers and working capacities, etc., and unless we have a conviction and a realism, where is the remotest chance of even a desire to become better, with the urge and confidence of “what some one man has done in the past, any man can surely do, in the present.” ?? It is only on the still waters of a faithfully represented history of lives lived, that the sheep (?) can find an inspirational proof of its being really a cub of the lion-race. Stories, cinemas and novels can’t help you to elevate your character and practical life.  They are all works of imagination only, sometimes of some intellectual genius absorbed in wine and women. You must have seen or at least heard or read about living persons and the work they left behind them, who actually lived a life of virtue, suffering, service and sacrifice, humility, charity and philanthropic activity with benevolence. For the modern world, we want a lot of new literature about psychology, character, lives and memories of great men in details, biographies and auto-biographies.

Maiism different from Shaktism

The conception of Hindu Devi or Matajee is that of sternness, terrorand destructivity though united with benignity and mercifulness and everything-asked-givingness and all-desires-fulfillingness. Even today, it is more or less the same, with Hindus, who have not come in touch with Mai-ism. Matajee is Hinduistic (restricted to Hindus aloneand She is personification of Power (all Powers of all types from the lowest to the highest). Mai or Maijee is Universal and a Personification of MotherGod Himself as Mother and not God’s Power. With Hindu-Matajee, the relationship of the devotee and the deity is that of the demander and donor of powers leading to general happiness, success, rulership, controllership, victoriousness, infatuatingness, etc. The relationship with Mai is that of a mother and child. Matajee is mostly a goddess of fear and powerwhereas Maijee is the Goddess of parental love and permanent welfareExcept the common element of the feminine sex, the conception of Matajee and Maijee are entirely different and dis-similar, if not contradictory. To put it in the usual Hindu scriptural language, Matajee, as mostly believed by Hindus, is the Tamasik aspect, whereas Maijee is the purest Sattvik aspect. Mai-ism is working hard for the past over 18 years, (i.e. since 2-9-1932), to transform the Tamasik belief about the Mataji to the Sattwik, to change the idea of fear into that of love, to raise the notion of Maya, Power and Consortship, to that of Motherhood, to broaden the Hinduistic restricted notion and vision to the Universal one, and to reduce hundreds of things stated in the name of Religion to only six tenets of Mai-ism.

If Hindus today have modified their beliefs about the conception of Matajee and have begun to have the stabilised conception of a mother to the son instead of a Demon-destroyer (as Mahisha-Mardini), that is attributable in a large measure to Mai-ism. The improvement in the Hinduistic conception is the founder’s heart-filling reward. The yet higher reward he has already attained from Mai, in the shape of Mai’s Grace and Mercy and a fairly good success in establishing Mai-ism.

The Founder of Mai-ism  Saint Mai Swarup Mai Markand, after the “River-initiation” incident in 1907, linked himself with and rivetted himself to the Mother. His conception then was a Hinduistic one, viz., that of Power (Shakti) although with the additional personally secured concessional advantage of Mother’s protection to him as Her son. That was however just as a lioness has her love to her cub though not without devouring ferocity. He had no special attachment to a particular aspect of Hindu Mataji as Amba, Kali, Bahucharajee, Chamunda or Bhawani. They were not different realities to him even then. As his final conclusion then went, these were only different names and forms of one and the same reality of MATAJI, Shakti (Power), the final most Power (Shakti), assuming different situations, different goals and different purposes. The word ” Mataji “, apparently meaning ” Mother ” was however to him, an honorific name for a feminine sex deity, with no conception of a mother-and-child relationship for one and all devotees. In a word, he had not risen above the centuries-old Hindu Shakti conception, and had absolutely no conception of Mai. The form that he saw as embracing him had nothing special to characterise Her as any of these five aspects. She was not in any of Her above adopted forms. She had human-like only two arms and no weapons. The dazzling light and crown halo around the celestial face, with the forward spreading glamour (as of a searchlight) was there. She was in Her Natural form, of the whole Universe-running-Divine-Mother, a burnished gold-coloured Divine fascinating Female Figure, which immediately convinced him about who She was.

About visualization of God

Divine Mother who is otherwise hidden is fully seen in Dhyaana  or meditation.

By constant praises and thinking about Mother, there comes a stage when all other senses close their relations with other objects of their pleasures and emerge in this one object, viz., Mother. When all senses thus withdrawn from their respective other objects concentrate in Mother, it is meditation and in that condition She is most visibly seen.

As during my experiences of others about the visualisations of deities and about the imagined religiosity which is most exaggeratedly believed to have been attained on the only basis of such visibility, I have seen so many misunderstandings, I wish to deal with this subject at length here.

There is meeting of friends, every one of whom says he has an elephant. Everyone is almost proud and satisfied that he is the possessor of an elephant, but they are benighted and there is no conveyance to return home. In the meanwhile one of them who was silent says,” Oh, my elephant has come. Come on and I will give lift to you and leave you one by one at your homes.” The fact was that everyone had an elephant. None was wrong, but one had a paper elephant, another had a cardboard one, still another had an ebonite one, and so on. Only one had a real living useful elephant.

There are many who having some visualisation of some sort get deluded that they have reached the proximity of salvation and that this is their last life. I have met so many. The most pitiable misunderstanding!!

One may have a wonderful visualization but Maai-ist must judge evolution by a reference to what he is. You see in your solitude a figure of any deities, but you are wrathful, greedy, anxious, full of desires, your faculties are not of the highest type, you are not attractive, you have so many enemies, your conclusions are not correct and your forecast of future do not turn out to be correct. You must in that case conclude that there is something wrong about your visions.

You cannot reach Mother or see Mother, unless you are one of the highest souls with no desires, all readiness to sacrifice , constant remembrance of Mother, high purity, high transparency and great wisdom as to the best way of dealing with and addressing others, etc.

Your having actually seen some deity figure is not denied, but how far that happening means that you are nearer to God or salvation must be judged, more by the permanent conditions of your acquisitions, attainments and developments and righteousness in your living the daily life , than by the mere experience of some vision.

Visualisation arises from several sources : (1) It is simply a thought of mind that creates an impression of your having seen, just as several arrangements of clouds in the sky some figure is sometimes imagined and seen at a certain moment. (2) By still greater intensity and continued thinking and the seeing of a certain conception for a long time a figure is sometimes seen, just as children see something in the dark without there being anything. Numbers 1 and 2 are only mind’s makings. (3) Next, by powerful intensity of thoughts, certain elements in the ether are being drawn together and you have the sight. This is an ethereal vision.(4) There are some invisible mischievous spirits who assume the form of the deity and derive frolic by seeing how the deluded man begins to dance , thinking that he is one of the highest souls who have got Saakshaatkaar साक्षात्कार   (direct vision) of God. (5) Next some really good and religious, invisible angelic helper, taking pity on the person pining away for proof of existence or Darshana दर्शन (sight), consoles him and encourages him in his devotion by appearing as a deity. (6) Then comes the deputation of someone by the deity to console and encourage and assist, who appears  as the deity. (7) Then comes the one of the invisible disembodied principal devotees of the particular deity (8) Then comes one of the principal actual companions, and constant adherent of the deity and lastly (9) the deity Herself or Himself.

A vision is seen, but that is no proof of the proximity of salvation or deity’s home. It may fall in any of the above nine varieties  which I have enumerated. Which class the vision belongs to, should be judged, as stated above, by one’s own personal self-analysis.

Number (4) is generally very common; sometimes such spirits who are opposed to general religiosity play the mischief and stop the further religious progress by creating the feeling of enoughness.

There are limitations and realities, Judge them by where and what you are. Do not get deluded away. Distinguish between mental, ethereal, spiritual and godly visions.

One way of judging what class the vision belongs to, in addition to the general self-analysis is to see after effects and after conditions. If you are over-powered with a feeling of ecstasy, the feeling of being perfected, being much better than what you were, feeling that you have nothing more to wish or love for, there is a reason to believe the vision to be of  a superior class. You feel you should have vision again and again. The other clue is to see how much of whatever is said or spoken by the vision figure comes out to be true. Judge the plane of purity which such speech proceeds. Decide the strength of sublimity and sanctity of the speech and emotion and knowledge during the vision.

Have a very correct analysis of what you are, how you live and what you do. Your vision can not be above what your plane is . If you are a true disciplined disciple , Gurus appear. If you are a devotee, devotees appear. If you are a world-worm with a little hypo-critic appearance of religiosity and doing something here and there , ordinary spirits appear. If you are entirely uncared for  and do not know your way out from a calamity, sometimes your dead relation and friend spirits appear.

The fact is that the way is Infinite. Best that has been said till now by way of instructions by the best people and best founders of all religions is but the first furlong formula. It is useful only for the first furlong of the long, long unknown infinite way. Let people be happy with their respective elephants according to their maximum conceptions. Do not discourage them or break their heavens. Let all be happy by Mother’s Grace.

It is not that the Infinite way is made through by the struggling soul. He is himself unable to explain, record or even know how he reaches the goal. It is Mother and Mother’s Grace that lifts him up and places him at or on the Goal.

All talk of wisdom of “Do this and do not do that”, Except Mother’s Grace is mere prattling. It is good in its own sphere, and many times much better than nothing or the reverse thing, but nothing beyond it.

Good and bad qualities of woman under the Religion Maiism

Money greed and sexual-lustfulness are such terrible forces, that they have overpowered even the most advanced of souls. Here therefore under Mai-ism the most difficult examination has been treated rather leniently and it should be enough that man passes with grace marks. It is enough that the man is true to his wife and that he gets money honestly in fairways without indulging in hundred s of ways of lying and cheating and defrauding, and that he makes it a point to spend a certain proportion of his wealth for deserving religious charitable purposes, etc. At this stage, Mai-ism does not mind his remaining infatuated with his wife, and trying his best to be wealthy enough, to be living in full comforts by honest and fair methods and without resorting to systematized cheating methods, that have lost their sting, in modern times, being in common prevalence.

Mai-ism is for using the terms “Money-greed and sexual lustfulness ” and not  the centuries old expressions  ” Kanaka कनक and Kantaa कांता  ”  or ” Kaanchan  कांचन and Kaamini  कामिनी “. It is not the woman that is the source of temptation, but it is the lustfulness in man. Mai-ism thinks it is an ungratefulness to denounce the sex of Man’s mother, sister and daughter. A woman is in no way a grater degrading force than man, if at all we study the black side of a man and woman’s relations. However, there has been never such a thing as man’s downright condemnation. These centuries old expressions have led the prejudiced modern minds to infer , that the scriptures were written for “Man” alone , that the scriptures writers were averse to womankind and believed women to be a foreign undeserving inimical element for religious progress, and that Saints in the past evaded the very shadow of a woman. These views are quite ill-founded. All the same, both the sides are to be blamed. The moderners have not seen how much worshipful reverence the Saints and or Scriptures have shown to deserving women, especially to “mothers” and “satees”(chaste life sacrificing true wives). On the other hand, it has to be sorrowfully admitted that few or no saints have taken pains to raise protest against such deprecating expressions, nor have they made the point clear, while they left volumes of teachings after them.  Why should they have left it necessary, for their followers, to write long comments, stating, ”No, no; our Guruji had no hatred towards women”?? I was once assailed by a highly educated woman, who quote a Saint’s words “ Dhol, Dadama, Shudra, Pashu, Naari, Voh sab Tadana ke Adhikaari (the drum, the blowing trumpet,, the menial, the animal and the women, work best under “beating”).I tried my every defense saying “beating “ in the case of a women meant here is only an unpleasant but effective appeal to her heart , that a “Nari”, a woman, in said quotation means a bad woman.”

She left me with hatred-ful face gesturing saying “Were all dictionaries then burnt”? She meant, “Why not be explicit and say specifically “a bad woman”?? Why whole sale condemnation of womankind? “We mean the same thing” is an attitude of a deceptive roguery. It is not fairness. It is like passing over one false currency note in the midst of many, hiding a true one for substitution, in case of a protest is raised. Let Mai-ism at least be free from the contamination of this centuries old condemnation. The Founder of Mai-ism cannot keep his one foot in milk and another in curd. He has to speak one way or the other, on such an extremely important issue about womankind as whole, even though he may be wrong. Perhaps some saints in the past did not make much of the expressions (so many of them), because they knew woman was safest with her infatuating powers against such parrotry. Let the woman enslaved have a forceful eye opening  , or at least, a vent in words. It is only a small word pinch only , which even women, if they think sexlessly and religiously , may not mind or may even appreciate, understanding full well what the saints and scriptures really meant. The crudeness has however to be admitted and should entirely cease, at least for Mai-ists.

Mai-istic eye towards woman is not that of chivalry and appreciation of beauty, engaging manners, softness, tenderness and sexual sentiments or emotions. It is not again that of vengeance towards man, in return of the man’s subjugation of woman in the past. Mai-istic eye is that of mercifulness, sacrificing, service-fullness and sacredness of mother, which almost every woman is, like a fruit bearing tree that suffers heat and cold, frost and rain, for the nourishment of the world itself. As between man and woman, Mai-ism wants to develop true understanding of mutual indispensability and in-competitive co-operative spirit of reciprocal love and service. The question of superiority, equality and inferiority is entirely irrelevant. Mai-ism insists on the sublimation of that natural human emotion known as “sex attraction”. Let the whole sale benefit of man folk on its looking upon the woman-folk , as comprised of mothers , sisters and daughters , be not lost. Mai-ism wants man to love and serve all women and not of any particular relationship or category alone.

So many saints, it cannot be denied, were indebted for they were , to their “Mothers”. So Many Ashrams were ably conducted for public spiritual welfare, through the assistance of  women. Paramahamsa was declared to be In carnation by a woman, a Sanyaasini. Should we not be ashamed of man’s ungratefulness, while using expressions of wholesale denunciation??

Of course for a worldly man, it may not be possible for him to be agreed to the highest ideal of looking every woman to be a mother, but then, let the understanding be clear , as under:

A woman is poison when approached with lustfulness, and is a nectar when viewed with a feeling of motherliness. The woman that pulls man more and more towards worldliness, is a venom, whereas the woman that gives him a spiritual, moral and virtuous life is a nectar. The woman that pulls man towards Godlessness, enjoyment and selfishness, is venom, whereas , the woman that takes him to God-ward-ness, self-control and selflessness, is a nectar. The woman that makes man more attached to his parents, Gurus, benefactors, helpers, destitute and the needy is the nectar. The woman that makes man a slave of her infatuation and grind mill bullock for increasing requirements of the family, is a venom. The woman who sits on man’s head and through the strings of her infatuations  rides him as a camel and satisfies her thirst with the water in the camel’s belly, if need arises is a venom.

Why are people so very fond of short misleading formulae in Religion? when they would be exhausting their brains with hair splitting over-two-penny worth worldly matters?? Neither infatuation, nor denunciation. Such expressions have been a plum-feather, which no man professing to be religious has failed to crown himself with. Mai-ism however takes strong objection thereto. Just as service and love have been there, but not religionised, so here too, it is not that the idea of looking upon woman as mother is not there but it has not been religionised. Mai-ism religionises Love and Service, and the trying of one’s best to look upon every woman as mother.

The yet greater humiliation is to be seen in that woman has been bracketed with wealth, as if both were of an equally degenerating order, calling them both, temptations, as per old religious belief. There is however earth and sky difference. Whereas the former is with reference to matter and materialism, the latter means a much subtler and nobler fight of living spirits and living forces .Wealth itself has no craving to conquer any man and to fell any special joy and blessedness in being with a certain man. Money temptation is murderous, women temptation is suicidal. The former arises from wickedness and cruelty, the latter from weakness and misplaced lovingness.  A greedy man impoverishes the world and creates repulsion. Lustful man has at least one chance in a thousand of reaction in the spiritual direction. Lustfulness abates with the passing of years, but the greediness increases with age.

In the first place, don’t denounce “woman”. If at all you do, don’t bracket with wealth. It is only one sided and blind man’s judgment. When you reach that high stage of spirituality when non-attachment becomes goal of your Sadhana, you have to practice for attainment of proofness against sex attraction. But that you can as well do, without denunciation and hatred. Condemnation is wrong remedy and a harmful teaching. It is great injustice that such a parrotry should be repeated John, Dick or harry, or by envious members in a family, to break the happy blending of a husband and a wife , or by an evil eyed friend , of if for no serious reasons, at least for slighting and belittling , be the speaker a drunkard, or a pauper or profligate. This misunderstood and misinterpreted religious licence given to men against women stands entirely cancelled, rejected and even condemned, under Mai-ism.

About the image or picture of Universal Divine Mother Mai [ Maiism ]

JAI MAI JAI MARKAND MAI जय माई जय मार्कण्ड माई

The image or picture of Maai माई is the well-known one, known as Aadi Lakshmi आदिलक्ष्मी . This is the picture which was selected by Universal Divine Mother Maai माई and suggested to Mai Swarupa माईस्वरूप  on the night of the Mother’s installation on 2 September 1932, as described in Mai-ism when Mai Markand agreed to install MOTHER MAAI माई , on certain most difficult conditions being fulfilled. This Aadi Lakshmi picture was the first and the top most and in a separate packet from other photos. Strangely enough the picture, as if had been designed for Maai-worship has no war-weapons, and main most qualification of no Mahishasur महिषासुर , no garland of skulls, no tiger, no lion, not even the elephant, nor a peacock etc. All these associations would be a great barrier to the permanent fixity of the Universal conception. This should be entirely dis-associated with an importance and assertion of the Mythology and Maai identification with Shakti शक्ती (Power) battlefield Daily-Demon-fight, and War Victory etc. The Universal Mother-hood conception for which Mai-ism stands should remain wholly unadulterated. It is the most suited picture for the Maai माई conception of God as Mother. Four holdings in hands are as under. Lower left hand has a lotus which represents Love, lower right hand is the boon hand, which so very spontaneously suggests Service. The upper right hand carries the elephant goad which represents perfectly controlled Devotion and the upper left hand holds the flag or banner, which represents unconditional cheerful Self -surrender. Thus the four holdings represent the four tenets of Maai-ism, viz., LOVE, SERVICE, DEVOTION and SURRENDER, Prema प्रेम, Seva सेवा , Bhakti भक्ती & Sharanagati शरणागती. There is another speciality, viz., that Maai has a halo which is representative of the highest Divinity and final-most-ness. The whole picture showing Mother standing on the basic lotus in midst of the infinite ocean is an indication of the Mother being the Final-most Supreme Almighty or the Mother. Thus the whole picture creates in the heart of the meditating devotee, the conception of the UNIVERSAL MOTHER, who is FINAL-MOST ORIGIN and who is propitiated on living a life based on the said four tenets, with two backgrounds of Faith viz., GOD as MOTHER and MOTHER OF ALL. The basic lotus has seven petals prominently seen in front including one full in the center, and three partly seen on each side of the central one. In the immediately rear we find two petals, one on the each side of the central petal. These two petals represent the two Lotus Feet of Maai. Meditation of Lotus Feet means, imagining that powerful Divine rays are oozing out from the nails of MOTHER’S Lotus Feet represented by the two lotus petals and entering the heart of the devotee and dispelling all TAMAS तमस, darkness, inertia and ignorance, there-in. A little above the two petals we find the horizontal garment, golden border and that represents the ankles. The invisibility of the ankles and Lotus Feet has to convey the idea and the highest estimation about the almost impossibility of the attainment of PARA BHAKTI परा भक्ती (ankles) and MUKTI मुक्ती the emancipation. The popular notion viz., that devotion is the easiest of all paths to reach Almighty, it should not be forgotten, is with reference to GUANA BHAKTI गौण भक्ती  or primary devotion and not Para Bhakti प्रेम भक्ती or perfected devotion, which is attained after perfect attainment of Gyana ज्ञान  the Divine Knowledge. It is so very difficult to have the attainment of the Lotus Feet, much more than the face, the eyes, the crown ( Grace, Divine Vision, Supernatural Powers ) etc. In Maai meditations, the higher order of spiritual attainment is from face to feet, and not from feet to face. The final resting place for the soul is in the LOTUS FEET and the BASIC LOTUS. Mai’s lower right hand, the boon hand is ever raised to grant boons most mercifully to the devotees. The BASIC LOTUS with innumerable petals is suggestive of the surroundingness of all the surrendered devotees around Mother’s Lotus Feet, with the perfected living of universal Love and Service , with Devotion and Self-surrender. The ocean represents Infinity of space and perpetuity of time , in the midst of which Mother Maai has been standing.

Remedy for worry

What is “worry”? Worry is giving way to anxiety or unease; allow one’s mind to dwell on difficulty or troubles. If you worry, you keep thinking about problems that you have or about unpleasant things that might happen. Someone or something can worry you e.g. Terry was worried by the challenge, or I am sorry I worried you, or dog worries ship or other farm animals. The word “worry” has several synonyms such as annoyance, vexation, mortification, chagrin, irritation, anxiety etc. In short worry is thinking plus anxiety. Worry does not exempt anyone. Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown. Worry occupies the first rank among the three Ws. If you are worried you may not get good sleep. Sleeplessness leads to blood pressure, heart trouble etc. Worry may be due to loss of wealth, failure in litigation, collapse of business, temperament incompatibility between couple, ill-health, unemployment, etc. What is the remedy to overcome the worries? All the tranquilizers won’t produce the desired result.

In His immense Mercy Founder Saint Shri. Maiji has laid down an unfailing remedy to overcome worries. The remedy is embodied in a letter to a lady devotee whose name is not known as we have only a copy of letter without the name. The letter sent on the first February 1963 from Mai Niwas is reproduced en bloc in the hope that it will help all readers to get rid of their worries and surrender cheerfully to Mai Maiji.

“I am unhappy to note that you have been very much worried during the last few days. Be bold. Maiji and Mai are with you. Mai is sure to solve your problem. Continue Mai pooja and Mai Mantra whenever you get leisure. Read at least one or two pages of Mai-ism every day. Your worries will vanish as ghee burns in the fire in Havan. I am sorry to note that most of us have not fully understood the working of Mother’s Divine administration. So they are often thinking that Mai is punishing them when they get worried.  Please note the words in Ardha Sahasranama “Mai Sharanagati Karuna Eka”. The meaning is Mai’s Grace showering is directly proportional to the amount of one’s surrender to Her, and the surrender should be unconditional, cheerful self-surrender. You are a very highly educated lady. So you must try to understand the working of Divine laws and the Guru’s work is to guide you and give you invisible strength to know that. The gold can be made into the form required only by heating and hammering. Like that Mai may put you to slight tests and by the Grace and Blessings of Guru the severity of the test will be very much lightened. I again tell you that whenever you feel worried in mind , if you are doing any work repeat the Mantra “Jay Mai Jay Markand Mai, Chitta Shanti Pradayini, Jay Mai Jay Markand Mai” and if you get leisure time read Mai-ism book two pages at least. Many people by doing like this got peace of mind and I do not see any reason why you also should not have that.

In this Universe everybody including myself are surrounded by many forces, good as well as bad and evil and we have to fight out all the bad and evil forces to get happiness and peace of mind. Then we have got our past Karmas, good and evil we do not know how much good and how much evil we have got in our account. By worshiping Mai and repeating Mai Mantra and by the Blessings and Guidance of Guru, the huge miseries and calamities and worries will be very much lightened so that we may not feel too much, but still we have to suffer something which should be peacefully and happily gone through. The fighting out the evil forces are also influenced to a very great extent by our surroundings, environments and circumstances .So the only way is to get as much credit as possible in your account in the Divine Bank so that the credit of the Divine Bank Balance may exceed the debit or in other words the balance should be always credit Balance. When that stage is reached there will be complete happiness. In addition to the instructions if you have got time and if your husband has no objection, I would suggest you to write the following Mantra in note books and send me the books as when finished and they will be placed on the Lotus Feet of Mai here. “Jay Mai Jay Markand Mai, Mai Sharanagati Karuna Eka, Chitta Shanti Pradayini Sarva Dhukha Nivaarini, Jay Mai Jay Markand Mai”. If you don’t get time even a few lines day to commence with will be sufficient.

Don’t feel unhappy at all. Have full courage and face everything boldly. By the Grace of Mai nothing serious will happen. By the Grace of Mai and Blessings of Maiji, things which come as mountains will pass away as clouds.

Mai fully bless you, your husband and your children and Balkrishnan. Please preserve this letter forever for consolation and strength on reading it. If I were more free I would suggest to keep it under your pillow while you sleep.

JAY MAI JAY MARKAND MAI

(Signed) Maiji.
